Stay in a Classic Redfern Terrace. Creative, Relaxed & Close to the Inner City
The room you’ll stay in is the large master bedroom upstairs, a queen bed with fresh linen and French doors opening to your own balcony. You’ll be sharing the house with me (Jeremy) and my 12-year-old. We’re respectful, friendly, sometimes out and about or home cooking and hanging out. We’ll be around to chat a bit and give local tips or leave you to chill in your room or explore the city.
We’re across from public housing, and while the street is mostly quiet and leafy, city life can spill out at times. It’s part of the honest urban rhythm here. If you’re after a smooth, lived-in local experience (and not a hotel-style stay), you’ll feel right at home.
What You Get
- A large private room with comfy queen bed, balcony access & plenty of charm
- Access to the shared bathroom/laundry, clean, simple, functional
- Tea/coffee & breakfast basics in the kitchen (a shelf just for you)
- Wi-Fi available, though it’s better for browsing than Zoom calls
- Fresh linen, towels, soap, clothes washer and air drying available
- Microwave/oven use okay for simple meals, but honestly, Redfern and Surry Hills have amazing options
- Rustic charm and plants
The Room
- Queen bed with clean linen, pillows, bedside tables including lamp
- Study/work desk
- Clothes storage and hanging racks
- French doors to your own small balcony
- Good natural light during the day. Ceiling light is bright (no lamp shades sorry). Lamp for evenings
- The room is upstairs. The stairs are steep and not wide. Typical for old style terraces houses.
- How many can stay? Single, couple or even a 3rd if they don’t mind a mattress on the floor.
Whats the price?
Rates vary depending on the length of your stay and the number of guests.
- Weekends (EG Friday + Saturday): approx. $170 total
- Weekday stays (5 nights, EG Sun–Thurs): approx. $310 total
- Longer term stays available.
Once you get in touch with your dates, Jeremy will promptly email you a quote to confirm your rate. If you want to proceed just pay $100 via a secure credit card payment link.
Notes:
- Save 5% if you pay via direct deposit instead.
- For bookings more than 3 days in advance, a $100 deposit is required to hold your spot.
- For last-minute bookings (within 3 days), full payment is required up front.
The Neighbourhood
- 10-15 mins walk to Redfern Station. 10 mins walk to fancy Surry Hills. 25 mins walk to the city. Bike paths everywhere so grab a share bike and go!
- Surrounded by great cafes, galleries, pubs & lovely local spots
- Easy walk to the City, Entertainment, Parks, Pools, trains, buses and more…
- Leafy street beside a restored old church
- Note: We’re opposite public housing. It’s usually quiet, but sometimes a bit of local colour (read: loud convo or the odd cop car to make us feel safe). It’s rare, but we like to be upfront.
The Bathroom
- Shared with us
- Simple, cleaned before your arrival
- Doubles as the laundry and opens to the backyard
- Frosted window with green outlook to backyard. No one can see in.
- We keep it clean and tidy, but it’s a working space — no frills, just function
- This room is an extension of the house from the kitchen. It can get cold in winter and warm in summer.
The Vibe
- Neat but casual, with original features and personal style
- Art on the walls, wooden fireplaces, houseplants throughout
- No TV, but phone signal for streaming
- No air con, not needed thanks to the terrace design
- It’s clean but a big city has it’s wildlife
